What licence do I need to tow your trailers?
This is a legal requirement under South African road traffic law, not just a recommendation. A standard Code B licence only permits towing a trailer with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of 750kg or less. Our Single Axle trailer (500kg GVM) falls under this limit, so a Code B licence is sufficient. Our Double Axle trailer (2 Ton / 2000kg GVM) exceeds 750kg, so towing it legally requires a Code EB licence (or EC1/EC). Towing without the correct licence code can invalidate insurance and result in fines if stopped at a roadblock — check the code on your licence card before booking.
Can I return the trailer to a different branch?
Only if you've booked a one-way rental. Standard rentals must be returned to the branch you collected from. One-way bookings can be dropped at any of Franic's 50+ branches nationwide — let us know when booking if you need a one-way trip.
Is insurance included?
No. Zisabo does not provide insurance cover for rented trailers. You're required to have your own insurance in place (e.g. cover under your vehicle or household policy) before hiring — check with your insurer that trailer towing is included, and that you hold the correct licence code for the trailer's GVM, since incorrect licensing can void a claim.
